Appeal launched after sexual assault in Gosport park

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an “urgent” appeal for witnesses and information to assist their continuing investigations following a serious incident that occurred in Gosport last weekend; which saw a woman report being sexually assaulted by an unidentified male as they walked through Privett Park during the evening.

The alleged incident is believed to have happened between 7:15pm and 8:30pm on November 2 (Saturday), according to the official statement. Officers are currently conducting early enquiries and this includes reviewing the available local CCTV footage, but they are not able to publicly release any full description of the male involved in the reported offence.

However detectives believe there was many local residents, including dogwalkers, who were using the park during this timeframe and are keen to speak with anybody who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in this vicinity. They are particularly hopeful to find people who were in the immediate area near to the football ground and cricket club facilities.

Investigators are urging anybody with potential information to contact the police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44240292784. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.

Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
