Cases of Covid-19 continue upward trend

THE latest rates of Covid-19 cases in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight show a continuing upward trend across Gosport and Fareham.

Figures published today, Monday, July 5, on the BBC website’s Local News page show the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to and including June 30 compared with the week before, shown in brackets.

Breakdown of statistics by local authority area is:

  • Southampton – 192 (up from 113)
  • Portsmouth – 182 (up from 129)
  • Rushmoor – 135 (up from 74)
  • Gosport – 92 (up from 34)
  • Havant – 103 (up from 53)
  • Winchester – 130 (up from 66)
  • Fareham – 104 (up from 59)
  • New Forest – 95 (up from 46)
  • Basingstoke and Deane – 160 (up from 50)
  • East Hampshire – 98 (up from 46)
  • Eastleigh – 141 (up from 68)
  • Test Valley – 120 (up from 87)
  • Hart – 122 (up from 56)
  • Isle of Wight – 30 (up from 13)

For comparison, the figure for England is 223 (up from 129). The figures were updated on SundayJuly and come from the government’s coronavirus dashboard.

From June 13, the figures are being rounded up to the nearest whole number.
