Covid-19 cases surge across Gosport and Fareham

COVID-19 cases in Gosport have shown a dramatic increase over the past few days, with numbers for Fareham also climbing steadily.

Latest figures published on the BBC website’s Local News page – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-55252104 – are the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to and including Friday, September 3, compared with the week before, shown in brackets.

The breakdown by local authority area is:

  • Southampton – 288 (down from 313)
  • Portsmouth – 389 (down from 474)
  • Rushmoor – 303 (up from 260)
  • Gosport – 450 (up from 341)
  • Havant – 344 (down from 398)
  • Winchester – 311 (up from 264)
  • Fareham – 377 (up from 350)
  • New Forest – 263 (up from 205)
  • Basingstoke and Deane – 285 (up from 234)
  • East Hampshire – 312 (up from 309)
  • Eastleigh – 350 (up from 345)
  • Test Valley – 341 (up from 278)
  • Hart – 318 (up from 289)
  • Isle of Wight – 334 (down from 354)

For comparison, the figure for England is 324 (up from 314).
