Covid-19 infection rate climbs in Gosport and Fareham

CASES of Covid-19 in Gosport and Fareham are continuing a sharp upward trend following a relaxation in the coronavirus restrctions.

Latest figures for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight published on the BBC website’s Local News page are the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to and including Sunday, July 18, compared with the week before, shown in brackets.

 

The breakdown of the figures by local authority area is:

  • Southampton – 569 (up from 355)
  • Portsmouth – 520 (up from 287)
  • Rushmoor – 444 (up from 201)
  • Gosport – 490 (up from 215)
  • Havant – 363 (up from 241)
  • Winchester – 350 (up from 292)
  • Fareham – 391 (up from 209)
  • New Forest – 404 (up from 209)
  • Basingstoke and Deane – 609 (up from 313)
  • East Hampshire – 350 (up from 218)
  • Eastleigh – 492 (up from 397)
  • Test Valley – 549 (up from 345)
  • Hart – 470 (up from 192)
  • Isle of Wight – 261 (up from 109)

For comparison, the figure for England is 538 (up from 361).

Figures were updated on July 22 and come from the government’s coronavirus dashboard. Since June 13, the district totals have been rounded up to the nearest whole number.
