Covid cases top 1,000 mark across both boroughs

THE latest rates of Covid-19 cases for Gosport and Fareham have once again soared past the 1,000 mark, doubling in the past week.

Figures published this weekend on the BBC website’s Local News page show the number per 100,000 people in the seven days up to and including March 14 compared with the week before, shown in brackets.

The number of recorded deaths attributed to Covid 19 for Fareham since the outbreak began until March 4 stands at 316; the Gosport total is 217.

And the breakdown of infection figures by local authority area is:

  • Southampton – 713 (up from 411)
  • Portsmouth – 957 (up from 528)
  • Rushmoor – 883 (up from 518)
  • Gosport – 1,056 (up from 514)
  • Havant – 1,002 (up from 580)
  • Winchester – 1,057 (up from 581)
  • Fareham – 1,196 (up from 597)
  • New Forest – 1,087 (up from 577)
  • Basingstoke and Deane – 883 (up from 522)
  • East Hampshire – 1,039 (up from 564)
  • Eastleigh – 918 (up from 528)
  • Test Valley – 1,124 (up from 573)
  • Hart – 1,105 (up from 605)
  • Isle of Wight – 1,111 (up from 531)

For comparison, the figure for England is 709 (up from 428).
