Currie agrees 2027 contract deal with Hampshire

By Connor Steel

HAMPSHIRE CRICKET have announced that seam pace bowler Scott Currie has formally signed a multi-year contract extension to remain at the Utilita Bowl until at least the end of 2027; the county releasing the update to their supporters as they begin their early preparations for this upcoming 2025 cricket summer with matches due to start from early April.

The twenty-three year old made the debut for Hampshire in 2020 and has further made forty-five appearances for their side across three domestic formats (County Championship, Vitality Blast & ODI Cup) over the last four years. The best figures came against Somerset as he earnt 4-24 in just three overs, helping the Hawks win this Vitality Blast encounter.

He spent the 2024 season with Leicestershire and claimed a total of thirty-four red ball wickets at the average of 32.38; whilst he recorded his maiden First Class century as he added 120 versus Northamptonshire at Wantage Road. Currie also took twenty Blast dismissals for the team and then played in The Hundred for Manchester Originals with 7 wickets.

Currie’s successive time included an international debut for Scotland back in March as he joined with brother Brad and teammate Brad Wheal in the team; taking three wickets across three One Day Internationals. He was further named in the nation’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 matches versus the USA, but was then withdrawn due to an injury.

The bowler stated his thoughts in an emotional comment released on Hampshire’s website and social media platforms: “I’m very honoured to extend a contract here at Hampshire. The them took a punt on me and every step along the way it’s been about trying to repay some of that faith and this feels like another episode of that, so I am delighted (for it all).”
