Fareham confirm friendly against rivals Borough

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM TOWN FC have announced that they will be hosting a pre-season ‘friendly’ against their historic local rivals Gosport Borough FC later this month; which will act as their last opportunity to prepare for the new 2025-26 season as they contest in the Isthmian League South Central Division after their fantastic Play-Off final success earlier this spring.

This encounter will take place at Cams Alders on July 29 (Tuesday) and is currently scheduled to kick-off from 7:30pm, where it is due to follow previous pre-season games between the two teams. Borough won the last such tie three-nil in July 2022 with second half goals confirming these bragging rights after a feisty ninety minute clash including red cards.

With a historic and local derby, this match is set to entice a large crowd to Cams Alders; particularly with the two teams likely to name strong ‘elevens’ and new player signings due to feature. Individual tickets have been confirmed as being £6 per adult and £4 for concession’s access for this game whilst anyone under the age of sixteen can watch at no cost.

It will end a month of preparations for Fareham that includes matches versus Pagham, Hamworthy Recreation, Selsey, and Poole Town away from home. The Creeksiders are soon scheduled to host Hamble Club FC, and Wimborne Town on July 22 / 29 respectively, although supporters are asked to check for any last minute changes to all pre-season ties.

An official league schedule is expected to be announced later this month alongside cup draws and the season’s formal start date. More information on fixtures and player signings or departures can be viewed online on their official website.
