Fareham healthcare partner wins medical award

Winners of the eighth annual Recognition of Excellence (RoE) Awards were announced earlier this week. Presented to key healthcare workers for outstanding achievements in the world of community pharmacy, this year’s finalists include a healthcare partner from Fareham.

In the Counter Intelligence category, Verina Matthews, healthcare partner at LloydsPharmacy Westlands Grove in Fareham, was named highly commended. Nominated by her colleague, who says she doesn’t realise how good she actually is, or how much the patients rely on her for advice and someone to talk to, Verina has unparalleled knowledge of the products stocked by her pharmacy. She is committed to finding the right one for each customer and ensures she provides all the relevant information regarding dosage and storage. The judges praised her
caring nature, her dedication and her thirst for knowledge.

Finalists were treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to central London for the awards ceremony that took place over lunchtime at the glamorous 8 Northumberland Avenue. The event involved a champagne drinks reception with the top brass of the pharmacy industry, an inspirational speech from special guest Jonny Benjamin MBE and a glittering awards ceremony where the finalists in attendance collected their prizes.

Commenting on the Awards, editor of Training Matters and RoE Awards host Helena Beer said: “Our finalists represent the very best of community pharmacy. I’m thrilled to be able to reward these individuals for their hard work, dedication and passion for helping the people in their communities live better and healthier lives. The past year has been exceptional in more ways than one and it’s been a pleasure to share the stories of what community pharmacy teams.
