A MAN has narrowly avoided jail after getting caught with a lock knife, citing ill health as the reason behind the offence carried out on July 6.
Simon Peter MacLellan was stopped with a blade in Sharlands Road, Fareham and arrested by police officers at the scene. The 39-year-old. of Redlands Lane, also within the Fareham borough, was charged with carrying a bladed article in a public place.
Appearing before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to two months imprisonment by the judge.
