Fareport returning after long lockdown

By Peter Downton, Fareport Talking News Press Officer

FAREPORT Talking News is a volunteer-run organisation that produces a USB stick each week, containing local news, information and features, for local people who cannot read a newspaper because of sight issues. The service is free for everybody.

When Covid-19 hit, we were forced to stop recording. Government Guidance meant that we were unable to make our recording studios safe for our volunteers. The requirement to do nothing that might help to spread the infection forced us to suspend operations.

However, Fareport are set to resume recording after the long months of lockdowns; with this coming as soon as Government advice allows which will currently be in late June. We intend to come back stronger than ever, and if possible, widen our pool of listeners.

We would like to reach anyone who might benefit from the service because unfortunately normal written adverts simply cannot be seen by our potential audience.

Our question would be: “Do you someone who might benefit by receiving Fareport Talking News?”

If you do, please contact the studio on 01329 664364. If you leave a message, we will get back to you, arrange a demonstration and set up a weekly mailing. We can supply a player at a subsidised cost for anyone without computer access.
