Globe back with local elections coverage

YOUR free digital weekly newspaper for Gosport and Fareham, The Globe, returns this week with coverage of the local government elections in our two boroughs. From now on, comprehensive round-up of news, features and sport across the region will be published each weekend, with ‘Stop Press’ items carried as needed.

This marks an exciting new development in the Globe’s six-year history after publication of the weekly pdf download edition ceased last September. We were badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in a total collapse of advertising revenue and us having to vacate our Bury House premises because of lockdown regulations.

But thanks to generous support for our crowdfunding campaign of late 2020, we have been able to commission a purpose-built website created by Cindy Robins, of Prickly Pear Design, in Gosport. A new-look masthead and logo have been designed by our graphic artist, Assistant Editor Connor Steel.

The new system will enable us to publish in a more up-to-date format while continuing with plans to bring out printed sister publications as and when circumstances permit.

Gosport & Fareham Globe Community Publications is the successor to Gosport Globe Community Publications C.I.C., which in turn had taken over from the launch company, My Free News Ltd, which was inaugurated in August 2014. The first Globe appeared on January 23, 2015.

Former directors and volunteers involved in the community interest company are behind the relaunch and full details of the new management  structure will be revealed in due course.
