Hawks announce participation in T20 Super League

By Connor Steel

HAMPSHIRE HAWKS have announced their participation in the upcoming 2024 Global Super League starting later this month; which will bring together a selection of five sides from across the world in Guyana before playing in a Twenty-20 competition that aims to celebrate this ever-growing format and encourage a big worldwide audience to enjoy the sport.

The Hawks are to represent England in the inaugural International Club competition; which will see all teams face each other in a group format from November 26 until December 6. Once everybody has played four group matches the “top” two will feature in its Grand Final on December 7, which will be played at Guyana National Stadium with fellow fixtures.

A prize fund of US$1million is available for the winning team with Hampshire’s first game being against Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh) on November 27. The Hawks will further play Lahore Qalanders (Pakistan) on November 30 and Guyana Amazon Warriors (West Indies) on December 1 before they conclude all group ties versus Victoria (Australia) on 06/12.

It is hoped that this tournament will bring “much needed attention and revenue” for Guyana with TV Broadcasters set to be announced shortly by organisers, who are aiming to ensure it becomes an annual event. In this case different teams from across the world would be invited every year depending on availability with potential qualification being discussed.
