Images released in Portchester collision appeal
HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have released “still” photographs of a vehicle that was driven by a potentially key witness to a fatal road traffic collision that happened in Portchester earlier in August, which is currently being investigated by detectives and tragically led to the sad death of a young teenage cyclist shortly after this incident.
Emergency personnel were called to the Junction of Portsdown Hill Road, Portchester Lane, and Skew Road at around 9:44pm on August 13 (Tuesday); where it was established that a silver Honda Jazz and cyclist had collided. The cyclist was taken to hospital but sadly died as a result of the injuries and named as 16-year old Ethan Wilkie from Portsmouth.
Detectives have since released two images of a silver Ford Galaxy and are looking to talk to the driver; who is believed to have turned right out of Skew Road and onto Portsdown Hill Road shortly before the collision. Police are also asking anyone who may know this driver to come forward, alongside any potential witnesses and people with dash-cam video.
Investigators are asking for anybody with information or footage to contact police by calling the non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44240347160. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.
