Man suffers serious injuries in Gosport street attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Gosport which left a man with serious facial injuries.

The incident occurred some time between 12.30am and 1.20am on Saturday, September 11, after a man and a woman were followed by a group of people from the ASDA car park into Dock Road.

Two male members of the group then approached the couple in Cranbourne Road, near to the junction with Shaftesbury Road, before assaulting the man.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was struck in the face with an object and suffered serious injuries.

Following the assault, the two men left the area up an alleyway in the direction of Mayfield Road.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw or heard the incident take place, or perhaps saw the culprits and the group in the area at about this time.
