Officer abuse sees two males charged

TWO MEN have been charged with various alleged offences following an incident on Gosport High Street last weekend, which saw officers subjected to anti-social behaviour in the town centre when patrolling the area.

It is alleged that last Saturday, December 11;  two Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) were subjected to verbal abuse including an assault and threats whilst trying to move two people from the area under a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).

Both people were quickly arrested by officers who interviewed them and have now since charged them, with details made available to the public on social media and the Hampshire Police website on Monday afternoon.

Glen Matthew Isham, aged 43, of Trinity Green in Gosport, was charged with the common assault of an emergency worker in the incident.

Jody Alyn Hayles, aged 44 of no fixed abode, was further charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence.

Both were remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday, but there has been no new or following updates from this particular case since this date (at the time of writing).
