MOTORISTS are now able to pay their parking charge when driving out of certain Fareham town centre car parks.
The borough council has had new machines installed which allow contactless card payment using terminals at all three exits from the Market Street car park and when using the middle lane exit from the Osborn Road multi storey.
For those who prefer to pay before they get into their car, the Market Street, Osborn Road and Shoppers car park have new machines which take cash or card payments contactless or with PIN.
All three carparks are set up for ‘quick exit’ so that having paid, the barrier will be raised automatically as the car is driven out – no need to stop in order to put the ticket into the exit payment machine.
Welcoming the installation of the new machines, the Executive Member for Health and Public Protection at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Trevor Cartwright, said: “The new machines are touch screen and use the latest barcode technology, so drivers will have a much better parking experience. This in turn will help to encourage shoppers and visitors to the town centre.”
