Police appeal after bus sexual assault

FAREHAM POLICE are appealing for information after a teenager was sexually assaulted on a bus two weeks ago; with investigators releasing photographs of a man they wish to talk to in relation to their ongoing enquires.

The alleged incident took place on March 4 (Friday) when a seventeen-year old girl got onto the X5 First Bus route leaving Fareham Bus Station for Locks Heath at 4:22pm; along with many other bus service users.

During the course of the thirty-five minute journey, it is alleged a man it is alleged a man sat uncomfortably close to her and proceeded to sexually assault her over her clothing. This reportingly continued until she got off the bus at 4:57pm having reached her destination.

The girl is currently being supported by specialised officers, who shared the above image on the Fareham Police Facebook and Twitter pages on Wednesday lunchtime (March 16); hoping to receive any information from witnesses or local residents to help their investigations.

Officers have asked if you are pictured in the grainy photograph or know the man, wearing a yellow face covering and black hat, to please contact police by calling 101 or report online, quoting reference number 44220088448. They have also thanked those who have supported their investigations so far.
