Sharp fall in Gosport and Fareham Covid-19 cases

AFTER weeks of dramatic increases in the number of Covid-19 cases across Gosport and Fareham, there has been a sudden and marked decline.

Figures published today, Monday, August 2, on the BBC website’s Local News page are the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to and including July 28 compared with the week before, shown in brackets.

The breakdown of the figures by local authority area is:

  • Southampton – 404 (down from 577 )
  • Portsmouth – 327 (down from 515)
  • Rushmoor – 199 (down from 369)
  • Gosport – 226 (down from 462)
  • Havant – 239 (down from 377)
  • Winchester – 235 (down from 382)
  • Fareham – 241 (down from 378)
  • New Forest – 223 (down from 373)
  • Basingstoke and Deane – 227 (down from 523)
  • East Hampshire – 177 (down from 323)
  • Eastleigh – 304 (down from 461)
  • Test Valley – 248 (down from 476)
  • Hart – 240 (down from 486)
  • Isle of Wight – 189 (down from 304)

For comparison, the figure for England is 296 (down from 500).
