AS RESIDENTS of Gosport and Fareham have their hopes raised for a move to post-pandemic normality, The Globe publishes its second edition in a digital newspaper format, replacing the original pdf.
In time, Gosport & Fareham Globe Community Publications hopes to provide enhanced coverage of our two boroughs, with regular supplements and a news magazine, both online and digital. But that must depend on a steady and improved income so that we can also continue to bring out our free, core edition every weekend and with news updates when warranted.
The first few weeks will see a settling down period as we explore new opportunities presented by this more flexible website.
However, many of our readers will be pleased to learn that some of our old favourites are scheduled to return. In the meantime, we want to hear from residents about what they want to see in their new-look forum for news, features and sport. They can send suggestions for publication in our Postbag section by emailing email@example.com.
Letters to the Editor are also invited but must include a name and address, even if these are to be withheld for publication on request. Defamatory comments, or gratuitous attacks on individuals will never be permitted.
There’s still a long way to go before things are as we would wish them to be. We had to give up our Bury House base because of Covid-19 and must work from home for the foreseeable future.
For now, though, it’s a start and everyone involved with The Globe is delighted to be back on the news beat, keeping everyone in the area – and our loyal ex-pat followers overseas – fully informed and offering a little something for the weekend.
All the very best to one and all and, above everything else, stay safe!
