Tech sectors to receive collaboration catalyst

THE ORGANISER of the Business Innovation South Expo says growing interest in this year’s event will create a ‘catalyst for collaboration’ across the south’s tech sector; having welcome dozens of companies and organisations keen to become involved in the annual showcase of products and services powered by science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).

Taking place at Lakeside North Harbour in Portsmouth on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, #BIS2022 will bring tech and business innovators together with potential users of their solutions in the wider business community. And director Lara Bull is extending its reach still further through support for the South Coast Tech Awards, including sponsorship of the Innovative Tech Company award.

Announcing the progress on the event, Lara said: “We have a genuine desire to showcase the south’s STEM and innovation companies and build a stronger, more connected and more collaborative community supporting the South Coast Tech Awards is a natural fit as we are perfectly aligned. We hope our contribution will inspire STEM-related companies to nominate themselves for an award or become a sponsor too, so shining a light on the innovation taking place in the South.”

She concluded by saying “The interest we are receiving both with the expo and our involvement in the awards are examples of us creating a catalyst for collaboration across the south. With so many current challenges facing companies, if we can provide a platform to showcase the huge variety of sectors and in turn support business being done within our region, we will be delighted.”

Jane Holt, Business Development Director, Southampton Science Park, said: “We have been proud to support Business Innovation South since its inception and look forward to participating again this year. This event, along with the South Coast Tech Awards, is one of the few opportunities for those working across the innovation community in our region to come together at scale.”

She went on to say in an advert about the Expo: “These events are excellent platforms for bringing Hampshire’s most exciting entrepreneurial spirits at all stages of their business journey together, with an ethos comparable to our own here at the Science Park, where we are focused on collaboration and nurturing ideas into successful and scalable commercial enterprises.”

The Tomorrow’s Business World Zone at the expo will have representatives from across the South’s university sector including Solent University, the University of Winchester, and the University of Southampton. They will showcase some of their latest projects and technologies to inspire visitors to consider how they might also benefit from collaboration.

The University of Southampton will also have many various departments involved with the expo’s speaker and workshops sessions covering several key topics such as sustainability, business resilience and cyber security.  Also on board as a business sponsor is Greene Wheels, UK distributor of the world’s lightest urban electric bike, which is called the Gogoro Eeyo.

Director Tim Bowen said: “We’ll be showcasing the bike as a major component of the overall move towards energy-efficient electric vehicles and sustainable transport. Eeyo is truly innovative because of its Smartwheel™ technology which brings the motor, battery and sensors together in one smart, lightweight wheel. We’re really thrilled to have the opportunity to demonstrate the Eeyo at Business Innovation South.”
