COVID-19 lockdowns saw many people volunteer to help others and it is now time to thank them and to keep the momentum going.
Volunteers Week – the annual recognition of the unpaid work carried out up and down the country – begins on Tuesday, June 1.
Gosport Voluntary Action Chief Executive Ted Hill and the constituency’s MP, Caroline Dinenage, have both spoken of the importance of ensuring the week highlights, in the words of Mr Hill, “the varied and fantastic work of volunteers in Gosport.
“We have seen many more people come forward over the last year or so to help out during the unprecedented times of Covid and lockdown, demonstrating the Gosport community spirit.”
Echoing these comments, Ms Dinenage has arranged that each day next week a local volunteers will be able to use her social media to discuss their voluntary work and the enjoyment they get from helping others.
Further information about Volunteers Week is available at: www.volunteersweek.org.
And Mr Hill has invited anyone who would like to volunteer their time to contact the GVA – www.gva.org.uk – where an adviser can put them in touch with appropriate organisations
