Witness appeal launched after Gosport incident
HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an ‘urgent’ appeal for witnesses and information to help their ongoing investigation following a suspicious incident that occurred in Gosport last weekend; which saw an unidentified man approach a six-year-old child and grab his wrist at Alverstoke Creek close to Jackie Spencer’s Bridge.
This incident took place between 12:30pm and 1pm last Sunday (June 22) with the male walking away from this scene but only after the child’s mother had shouted their name. He was described to police as being Asian and approximately 5 feet six inches with a ‘slimmer’ build, whilst he was also estimated to be between twenty-eight and thirty years of age.
This male was further said to be wearing a baseball style cap, navy top, and darker trousers alongside carrying a black rucksack; a short press release confirming he did have short black hair. Detectives are looking to talk with anyone who could have witnessed the incident / man involved; particularly as the area may have been busy due to warmer weather.
Investigators are urging anybody with potential information to contact the police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44250274638. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.
Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
