Witnesses sought following fatal car park collision
HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an “urgent” appeal for witnesses and information to assist their continuing investigations following a fatal road traffic collision in Gosport on Saturday evening; which saw a sixty-nine year old man suffer life-ending injuries after being hit by a vehicle within the car park for Asda (Dock Road).
Emergency Services were called to the scene at 5:45pm on January 11 to multiple reports of a collision between a blue Volkswagen Passat and a pedestrian, with members of the public freeing him from under this car. Sadly the victim from Gosport passed away at the scene due to the injuries, and family members are now being supported by specialist staff.
The car park was fully reopened on Sunday morning following enquiries at the scene and investigators are now looking to speak with anyone who witnessed this collision or moments leading up to the impact. This includes people who were walking or driving in the surrounding areas; along with those who may have dash-cam / related video to help the police.
Detectives are asking for anybody with information or can help to contact police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44250015030. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.
Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
