Witnesses sought following fatal Gosport collision
HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an “urgent” appeal for witnesses and information to assist their continuing investigations following a serious single vehicle collision in Gosport late last week; which sadly saw a driver suffer fatal injuries after the car left the road and crashed into a nearby property during the early rush hour.
The emergency services were called at approximately 8:20am on October 17 (Thursday) to a report of a large collision on Gregson Avenue; which involved a silver Jaguar XKR leaving the road and colliding with a house in Harwood Close. The driver was aged in his thirties from Gosport and was pronounced dead at the scene with family members informed.
The property was also damaged in this collision and detectives have further confirmed they are carrying out preliminary enquiries into the circumstances. They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who could have seen the collision as well as the vehicle’s journey along the route of Wych Lane, before it turned into Gregson Avenue using the roundabout.
Detectives are asking for anybody with information or can help to contact police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44240451466. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.
Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
