Witnesses sought following serious Gosport collision

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an “urgent” appeal for witnesses and information to assist their continuing investigations following a serious road traffic collision in Gosport last week; which sadly saw a driver suffer several life threatening injuries after his car collided with a wall during the “early evening” rush hour period.

It was reported that a silver Volkswagen Tiguan left the roundabout with Military Road and hit a wall along Privett Road at approximately 4:25pm last Wednesday (December 4); this area quickly closed by emergency services. The 87-year-old driver from Gosport was given medical treatment at the scene and further taken to hospital; where he does remain.

Investigators believe there was multiple potential witnesses who were driving along this road or surrounding areas and may have seen either the vehicle / driver involved; including both before and within the aftermath of this collision. They are also keen to talk with anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage taken that would assist with their early enquiries.

Detectives are asking for anybody with information or can help to contact police by calling their non-emergency number 101 and quote the case’s reference number of 44240528703. They can further submit details using the online reporting tool available on the Hampshire Police website, with all official support and further guidance available on the links here.

Alternatively, readers can contact the “independent charity” Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 for absolutely free; or via their anonymous online forms which can be found through their website: https://orlo.uk/250kR
