Vince agrees 2026 Hampshire contract extension

HAMPSHIRE CRICKET have announced that batsman James Vince has agreed to extend the stay at the ‘Utilita Bowl’ until at least the end of this upcoming 2026 cricket campaign; the county stalwart continuing the role as the Twenty-20 Vitality Blast captain as they look to win this popular short-form competition title for a fourth time since starting in 2003.
The thirty-four year old first debuted in the Blast back in 2010 and is now the ‘all-time’ leading run scorer overall with a combined 6,357 runs to his name; which have been from over the last fifteen campaigns with the county. This includes the total of five outstanding centuries alongside forty-six half centuries (fifties) at the average of 35.71 runs per innings.
He captained the team to a record eleventh appearance at Final Days in 2025 where they lost the final to Somerset by six wickets; the Hawks earning a place in the match with 547 runs scored by Vince alongside other efforts. The Hawks lost won this competition in 2022 after a narrow one run success against favourites Lancashire Lightnings (Edgbaston).
Vince is also the second-leading run scorer in The Hundred with 1,083 runs as he led Southern Brave to this inaugural competition title in 2021; whilst the team won the final with the team in 2024. He has earnt a title with Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL), Multan Sultans within the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and for Gulf Giants in the ‘ILT20’.
Overall he has featured a total of 56 times in the PSL with Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators and for the Karachi Kings; making him a consistent feature of the competition since it launched. On the international stage, Vince has featured 17 times for England in IT20s with two half-centuries, including a 55 within his last match for the Three Lions in the format.
