Royals look to expand club media team

By Connor Steel

AFC PORTCHESTER have launched an invitation to budding sport journalists as they look to expand their media team for the upcoming 2022-23 campaign in the Wessex League Premier; releasing information about many roles available in a short statement released on their website earlier this week.

The club are looking for somebody with videography skills to film Portchester matches both home and away starting in August alongside interviews with players / staff. Club podcasts or audio content pieces are also a mission of the club going forward as they look to progress the club’s following and stature.

In terms of matchday media the club are looking for somebody to write match reports for the first team, alongside the club’s women and youth academy encounters. These will then be published on the club website, social media, and publications such as the matchday programmes entitled ‘Royals Mail’.

A club photographer and social media team are currently in place, but are more than happy for anybody to give them a hand; particularly in times of illness or other enforced absences. The club are also happy for volunteers to publish their work online through personal domains and build their own portfolios.

With the non-league club hoping for promotion to the Southern League come May 2023, it promises to be an exciting time to be associated with AFC Portchester as they also look to challenge well in both FA Cup and Vase competitions; fresh from reaching two semi-finals in spring 2022 losing to Farnborough and Fareham.

And if that isn’t enough Portchester have a proven track record in getting members of their media team recognised, with many gaining full time employment in the sports media industry including roles at Sky Sports; whilst their club photographer Daniel Haswell being nominated for an award earlier this year.

Anybody interested in joining the current media team at the On-Site Group Stadium or want to know more information should contact the club via mozzapfc@hotmail.com. CVs and previous examples of work are welcomed as part of any application process, although more information will be given by the club.
