Car parks open as Fareham Live date moves closer

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL have announced that three car parks have opened for public use in the close vicinity of Fareham Live as they prepare for the launch date of the entertainment venue; which is due to open for the first show late in September after 2 years of construction development as part of continuing works to re-generate the town centre.

Councillors came together with officers and Neilcott Construction Ltd to help mark the opening of the car parks later on Friday; thus marking a landmark in the project that began last November. This included the demolition of the “outdated” Osborn Road multi-storey and replacing it with a single level facility described as being suitable for all modern vehicles.

The fresh car park should provide 136 larger spaces along with charging points for electric vehicles, whilst being joined by 2 existing spaces nearby. These were closed to allow for the construction and space for such vehicles but they have now been resurfaced; allowing workers to mark bigger spaces and ensure provision for 26 accessible bays in this area.

There is now a total of over 1400 parking spaces in Fareham Town Centre and over six hundred within an easy walking distance of Fareham Live; all of them being council operated. Council Leader, Simon Martin, praised the opening of the 3 car parks and commented the area “represents the first stage of our significant re-generation ambitions for Fareham”.

Organisers have further confirmed that the ‘premiere’ show at Fareham Live is scheduled for September 28 as the Frat Pack will offer the rare extravaganza of live entertainment and music. Bradley Walsh will host the show alongside Brian Conley, Shane Richie, and Joe Pasquale throughout the evening; which starts from 7:30pm and tickets are online here.

A highly packed calendar of shows will then follow including the Nutcracker, The Tiger Who Came To Tea, One Night In Dublin, Simon Brodkin, and Jimmy Carr is due to run until December; which will have the start of Cinderella pantomime performances across a three week period. More information on all shows and tickets are now available via this weblink.
