Council announce return of ‘Solar Together’ scheme
By Connor Steel
FAREHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL have announced that they have teamed up with iChoosr as they launched the ‘Solar Together’ programme for its fourth successive year; which will see them provide cleaner, greener and more sustainable power sources to their residents as councillors continue towards a commitment to become carbon neutral by late 2030.
This programme began on Monday (August 18) following huge successes in recent years and residents can register to future steps with no obligation until October 18 (Friday). It offers high quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage through a group-buying scheme that will bring households together to help secure the most competitive prices.
An auction will be held from October 18 and is due to see pre-vetted solar installers submit their bid for the work; whilst registered residents are to be contacted with solutions to best suit their specifications and associated costs. It is crucial to stress that there won’t be any obligation to continue and installers will only contact those who accept an offer of help.
Installers will then survey the property and set the installation date to finish the scheme; which is supported by the local authorities of Hampshire County Council / Fareham Borough Council. At the time of writing (7pm) the total figure of 128 households in Fareham have already registered and it is hoped that more will decide to join the scheme by October 18.
