Council announces bin day changes across Fareham

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL have announced that weekly bin collection days will likely change for most residents across this area from next month; which will help their providers prepare for an introduction of food waste collections in March 2026 and ensure improvements are make to continue efficient waste collection services for this long term future.

The confirmation was published last week and informed residents that their ‘normal’ collection day was likely to change from November 3 (Monday) thus giving three weeks of notice. All residents will receive a ‘posted letter’ confirming their bin collection days after this date and is to be sent to everyone to avoid confusion even if there is no change to the day.

Residents should further receive a “bin calendar” for the rest of 2025 and details of planned changes during this festive period, which will soon be published via the council website for easy access if needed. However residents are asked to continue to put all bins out according to the usual collection schedule until the end of the month on October 31 (Friday).

An additional ‘one-off’ collection will be added to the round for those residents that have a significant gap between their old and new general refuse (green top bin) collection days. Those residents affected will be informed of their additional collection in their letter, whilst these are due to begin on the week commencing October 27 and ending on November 7.

Residents can explore a comment from Executive Member for Streetscene, Cllr Ian Bastable, via their link; whilst more information about the upcoming bin collection change including questions and answers is available via the Council site.
