Gosport MP to host free virtual charities workshop

By Linden Grigg

GOSPORT MP, Dame Caroline Dinenage, has announced that she will take part in a virtual funding workshop alongside the People’s Postcode Lottery in early October; which will help local charities, volunteer organisations and community groups within this area.

The free live event will be held via Zoom on October 8 (Tuesday) and will run from 4pm to 5pm with the Gosport MP set to conduct a welcome speech. It will soon be followed by a presentation from the People’s Postcode Lottery and a question / answer session before closing.

It is hoped that this session will give good causes across Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent, and Hill Head advice on how they can apply for funds to make a difference in their community. This follows similar events in previous years that have been supported by Ms Dinenage and are often well attended.

Communities in postcodes across Britain are winning thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Last year, players of People’s Postcode Lottery raised over £208 million for good causes and are now raising over £18 million a month for over 17,000 charities, covering every constituency in the country.

In 2024, grassroots good causes once again have the opportunity to apply for funding. Data shows that over £57,886 raised by People’s Postcode Lottery players has already made a huge difference to many small, local good causes in Gosport.

The Gosport MP commented on the varying benefits of this workshop, saying in a press release: “Funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery makes a huge difference to thousands of good causes across the country.”

“I know that there are many local charities or good causes in Gosport that would love a funding boost and I would encourage them to come along to the funding workshop to see what support is available. I am grateful to People’s Postcode Lottery for their continued support and hope that many charities and community groups are able to attend the event.”

Malcolm Fleming, Head of Public Affairs at People’s Postcode Lottery, added his own thoughts: “The money raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery is making a huge difference in communities across the country.”

“We want to do all we can to help local charities and good causes successfully apply – particularly at a time when many are losing out on essential funds. Our free virtual workshop is a useful opportunity for smaller, local charities and groups to find out about the funding available, get pointers on applying and ask us any questions.”

More than £1.4 billion has been raised for thousands of charities and good causes, thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Readers can register to attend the workshop by contacting funding@postcodelottery.co.uk.
