HAMPSHIRE CRICKET have announced that they have signed the services of young superstar Dewald Brevis for their coming T20 Vitality Blast season; the twenty-one year old batsman joining with fellow country-man Lhuan-dre Pretorius in the shorter domestic competition whilst also having an option to feature in the Rothesay County Championship team.
The South African rose to fame in the ‘2022 ICC Men’s U19 World Cup’ as he added the total of 506 runs including two centuries and three fifties across just 6 innings. He has further represented Mumbai Indians (IPL), M.I New York (MLC), St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (Caribbean Premier League) and Morrisville Samp Army / New York Strikers (Abu Dhabi T-10).
Brevis also featured in the 2025 SA20 League and ended as the second highest run scorer with 291, which also meant he was sixth in the competition at a run rate of 184. Overall he has accumulated 1787 from his 81 matches at T20 level featuring seven fifties and one century whilst these runs have come at the average of 26.27 with a strike rate of 144.93.
He will have an option to feature in red ball cricket and build on his 1000+ runs in his First Class career, although these have come from just seventeen matches and includes three hundreds alongside five half-centuries. To date Hampshire have won one game and drawn their second fixture so far this campaign, with their next encounter starting from Friday.
