Picture Special: Gosport’s Christmas Lights Switch On
THOUSANDS of local residents across Gosport came together last Saturday evening (November 29) to visit an annual Christmas Lights Switch On community occasion; which was accompanied by a ‘bespoke market’ hosting over seventy independent stalls from Morrisons to YourSpace, crafting, activities, Santa’s Grotto and live entertainment for everyone.
There was also two stages of live music throughout this day including a performance from the HMS Collingwood Royal Naval Volunteer Band and Big Noise Samba, who both showcased their array of talents for big crowds. Meanwhile live reindeer, stilt walkers, hula hoopers, scavenger hunts, glitter tattoos and baubles were available for all to watch / enjoy.
The event ran from 10am to 8pm with the centre-piece unveiled at 6pm to huge cheers and applause around Laurence Square; where a tall tree shone under dark skies with lights then seen along the High Street. It was superbly organised by ‘Anchored In Gosport‘ with supports from charity organisations including The Reilly Enterprise, C2U and YourSpace.
