Residents invited to Fareham Community Showcase
By Molly Henson
LOCAL RESIDENTS and groups have been invited to attend the Fareham Community Showcase that is due to take place later this summer with event organisers hoping to build on upon the big success of its 2025 edition.
This year’s celebration will be held at Bath Lane Recreation Ground on July 4 (Saturday) and is a free event for visitors. It has been funded by Fareham Borough Council as part of Fareham’s Big Weekend, which is an annual family friendly festival across the area.
Community First is welcoming groups, charities and organisations to promote their cause, raise funds, find new volunteers and meet local people. Organisations already confirmed to attend include Citizens Advice Fareham, Bird Aware Solent, Catalyst Social Enterprise, Solent Sounds Chorus, Home Instead Fareham and Gosport, and Fareham Good Neighbours.
Tim Houghton, Chief Executive Officer of Community First, said: “In our area, community groups do incredible work, but people don’t always know what’s on their doorstep. The Showcase is a great way find out what’s happening locally, and if you run a group, it’s a chance to meet people who want to help, by volunteering, donating, or spreading the word.”
Local groups and charities can now book a free exhibitor space with anybody interested urged to visit cfirst.org.uk/events or contact Liza Smith at liza.smith@cfirst.org.uk. They will be provided with a table and two chairs courtesy of Community First, whilst a shuttle bus will run between Civic Centre North car park and the event site before and after the event.
Anyone is welcome to attend the event which starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm. There will also be entertainment, including performances from local bands and choirs, and a free children’s circus workshop. Updates on exhibitors, musical entertainment and attractions taking place at Bath Lane during the Big Weekend, will be posted on Community First and Fareham Borough Council’s websites.
PICTURED: Residents in Fareham were able to attend a similar event last year within the Town Centre, which was well received by the majority of visitors and organisations.
