Residents urged to share views on waterfront plans

GOSPORT RESIDENTS have been invited to attend a series of events that will help in shaping plans to regenerate the historic waterfront for all future generations; which comes after a public exhibition held in mid-October 2024 and follows the council being awarded a total of £18 million in Government levelling-up funding to help cities / towns across the UK.
These events will permit people to comment on all the options being considered by local councillors and developments; featuring improvement to access, information wayfinding signs, street furniture, and many more ideas. They can further talk to the team who are leading the projects, look at their early planning in detail, and meet residents in different areas.
The events began today at the Gosport Discovery Centre and Tesco (Alver Valley) with more planned until February 11 across the borough; the organisers releasing a calendar of the times and locations here. Each session is accessible by public transport and parking facilities nearby; whilst they will be running for multiple hours / timings to allow attendance.
Councillor Peter Chegwyn, Leader of the Council, commented about the events this week: “This is your chance to help shape the regeneration plan for our historic waterfront, and let us know what your priorities are. We want to know what improvements are the most important to residents, businesses and communities – and where we should focus activity.”
An online form and information will be made available on this Gosport Borough Council web site for residents who may not be able to attend one of the eight events. Feedback from the public will then be brought together and help to create a “masterplan” for the waterfront; which will be created by a designer and published to the public later in the 2025 year.
