Rotary announce new President for 2026-27 term
FAREHAM ROTARY have announced that local resident and businessman Bob Mussellwhite has become the President for 2026-27 as he takes on this important role for a second term; which allows him to follow in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather as the occasion was marked with a handover dinner.
Each year, a Rotary President elects several projects for the local club to support. The Wheelhouse is a beachside property at Hill Head that was originally built in 1948 by Fareham Rotary and is available for hire by community groups / charities. Over 75 organisations have enjoyed more than a hundred and eighty days by the sea.
Bob stated: “It’s our jewel in the crown, but the building could do with a facelift. It’s looking a bit tired and both the interior and surrounding area need refreshing to improve its curb appeal.” As the President’s community project, proceeds from the Fareham Shopping Precinct wishing well in addition to funds raised through other club initiatives will be directed to the Wheelhouse upgrade project.
Funds will also be raised to support Bob’s chosen international project helping a hospital in Dnipro, Ukraine. He said: “Working with the local Rotary club, we will help fund essential supplies for the hospital. The staff are working unimaginable hours with limited electricity available for operations and to keep the hospital viable. Communication is often difficult and we aim to provide whatever support we can as and when it’s needed.”
Finally, the new President will be focusing his energies on increasing membership. For anyone wishing to make a difference through volunteering, Rotary offers a range of flexible routes to full or part-time membership. Full details are available on this website alongside information about its history and future events.
