Shopping centre announces British Legion support
FAREHAM SHOPPING CENTRE have announced they will be continuing their support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal for 2026, which is helping to raise funds for the Armed Forces community whilst offering shoppers the opportunity to show their support for those who have served past and present.
Volunteers from Royal British Legion can be found at the centre between October 22 (Thursday) and November 11 (Wednesday), where they will be offering poppies and a selection of Poppy Appeal merchandise. Shoppers are encouraged to stop by, make a donation and pick up a poppy to wear with pride during the Remembrance period.
Money raised through the Poppy Appeal helps the Royal British Legion provide practical and emotional support to members of the Armed Forces community and their families. This includes support with financial difficulties, employment, housing, mobility, and mental health; as well as advice and guidance when it is needed.
Centre Manager at Fareham Shopping Centre, Mike Taylor, said: “We’re pleased to be supporting the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal again this year. It’s an important time of year for the community, giving us all an opportunity to remember those who have served while also supporting those who may need help today.”
He continued to say: “We hope our shoppers will take the opportunity to support the appeal when they visit the centre. Every donation, however big or small, can make a real difference to the Armed Forces community.”
Fareham Shopping Centre is proud to support the Royal British Legion and its volunteers and encourages the local community to get behind this year’s appeal. As seen in previous years shoppers can expect a two minute silence to be hold on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.
Councillor Frair Burgess, Executive Member for Leisure & Community at Fareham Borough Council, added: “Fareham is steeped in armed forces history and so many members of our community have close personal connections with those who have served our country. I am delighted that Fareham Shopping Centre will be supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal once again and encourage anyone visiting the centre during the remembrance period to make a donation and wear their poppies with pride.”
