Standing with Giants: For Your Tomorrow Exhibition

STANDING WITH GIANTS have been impressing crowds of visitors with its symbolic ‘For Your Tomorrow‘ Exhibition at Fort Nelson (Royal Armouries) over recent weeks; this moving silhouette tribute depicting the total of 1,475 servicemen under British Command who lost their life on D-Day (June 1944) and follows its spell at the British Normandy Memorial.

This powerfully sombre installation shows each of these servicemen using ‘black silhouettes’ that are displayed around the Fort and may be seen when driving over Portsdown Hill. It will be running until January 25, 2026 and around eighty thousand guests would have visited before this with no tickets available to purchase despite extra space being created.

Members of the Globe visited the installation on Sunday afternoon (December 14) and noted its respectful atmosphere in breezy but dry conditions; which added to the scenic views as the day progressed. These silhouettes were joined by a moving variety of letters and stories from those who served, along with ‘brilliantly created poppies’ shown throughout.
