Bygone Years: Snapshots from Stokes Bay

STOKES BAY is a coastal area within Gosport and remains popular with residents as a location that combines summer fun with brilliant views; featuring the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, and Fawley. But it also has historic features such as the nearby Fort Gilkicker and its old pier whilst also being the current base of Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service.

In this weekly edition of Bygone Years, our Globe photographer Peter Maguire has been searching through his popular collection of historic and local photographs to showcase the ‘best parts’ of Stokes Bay. This includes coastal views and multiple popular attractions that have entertained people during past generations (credits to all original photographers).
