Coronavirus rates for boroughs hit all-time high
THE number of people diagnosed as having coronavirus across Fareham and Gosport has reached an all-time high, with well above 1,000 residents affected in each borough.
Figures published today – Wednesday – on the BBC website’s Local News page are the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to and including December 31, compared with the week before, shown in brackets.
The breakdown of the figures by local authority area is:
- Southampton – 1,309 (up from 1,133)
- Portsmouth – 1,402 (up from 967)
- Rushmoor – 1,562 (up from 1,244)
- Gosport – 1,234 (up from 817)
- Havant – 1,311 (up from 929)
- Winchester – 1,224 (down from 1,330)
- Fareham – 1,316 (up from 901)
- New Forest – 1,237 (up from 934)
- Basingstoke and Deane – 1,573 (up from 1,201)
- East Hampshire – 1,164 (up from 1,042)
- Eastleigh – 1,440 (up from 1,252)
- Test Valley – 1,389 (up from 1,208)
- Hart – 1,424 (up from 1,309)
- Isle of Wight – 847 (up from 650)
For comparison, the figure for England is 1,625 (up from 1,270). The statistics were updated on Tuesday, January 4, and come from the government’s coronavirus dashboard.
