Residents invited to attend vintage Fareham occasion

By Connor Steel

LOCAL RESIDENTS have been invited to visit the popular ‘Bygone Fareham’ event that will be taking place in the town centre later this year as councillors announced more information about this returning occassion; which is planned to be themed around the 1970s as the area celebrates its golden anniversary since being awarded its official borough status.

This event is scheduled for September 14 (Saturday) from 10am to 4pm and is due to be located in the ‘pedestrianised’ area of West Street; which will feature a number of vintage artefacts and entertainment. This includes a variety of older style classic vehicles from across past generations alongside multiple singing and dancing displays throughout the day.

Councillors have announced that a number of local groups have pledged their attendance; including members from the South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society, Morris Minors Owners Club, Portsmouth & Southampton Mini Club and also the Solent Mini Club. Proud owners will further be available to talk to all visitors and answer questions on their vehicles.

Residents are permitted to display their own classic vehicles in this event and should email the council organising team on leisure@fareham.gov.uk before August 30; although these vehicles must be aged 25 years or above. Parking for all visitors is available to be used around the town centre areas, with normal bus and train services further running nearby.
