Gosport McDonalds shuts temporarily

By Connor Steel

GOSPORT residents have been warned that their local branch of McDonalds, located within the Brockhurst Gate retail park, has closed for two weeks to allow refurbishments on the site; which will help the business cope with greater demand and offer speedier service delivery alongside essential repairs that have caused minor closures seen over recent months.

A sign on the door says the restaurant would close from Monday evening (May 9) and will reopen to the public on the morning of May 25 (Wednesday) with staff re-stationed temporally during this period. In the meantime residents are advised that their nearest branches are Newgate Lane (drive through / sit in) and West Street (sit in), with deliveries furthermore available from both branches at a small additional cost.

Since opening in 2018 as it replaced the McDonalds in Gosport High Street, the Brockhurst Gate branch has become hugely popular with residents due to its drive through, sit in and delivery options alongside high tech equipment. It’s extensive breakfast and traditional menu receive hundreds of purchases per day from commuters, residents, or shoppers; whilst many jobs have been created as a result.

McDonald’s franchisee Grant Copper, who owns and operates the restaurant in Brockhurst Gate said in a short statement: “I’m excited that my restaurant in Gosport is currently undergoing refurbishment works, creating a new layout which will improve the experience of my team and our customers. I look forward to reopening from 11am on Wednesday, May 25.”
