Appeal launched after Waitrose shoplifting incident

HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY have announced they have launched an ‘urgent’ appeal for witnesses and information to boost their continuing investigation after a shoplifting incident that happened in Gosport early this month; which saw an unidentified man enter a supermarket store and put four bottles of rum inside his coat before leaving without paying.

This man is reported to have entered the Waitrose store on Stoke Road at approximately 1pm on January 18 (Sunday) and left the building five minutes later. Officers were made aware and they have been conducting initial enquires whilst they have now released a still CCTV photograph depicting the man that they wish to speak with regarding this incident.

He has been described as being white and aged in his thirties with a “larger build”, whilst he was said to be around five feet eight inches in height. The man was further wearing a dark green beanie hat, a dark blue top, a black jacket, black joggers and black shoes with white soles at the time of the incident, as seen in the CCTV released by the investigators.
