Council announce new Fareham Mayor for 2025-26

By Connor Steel

FAREHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL have confirmed that Councillor Mrs Louise Clubley has formally been appointed into the role of Mayor for the coming 2025-26 annum; the Uplands & Funtley representative taking over from Councillor Pal Hayre after this year’s Mayor Making Ceremony was held at Fareham Live for the first ever time last Thursday (May 8).

Mrs Clubley was first elected to the Council back in 2016 and is the daughter of Alderman John Bryant who was Mayor of Fareham from 2006-07. Her mother, Pamela Bryant, has further held the prestigious position from 2002-03 and then again from 2019-22; her second stint in the job being extended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns.

The new Mayor has further followed a practice of choosing local charities that were listed as Serv Wessex – The Blood Runners, Friends Of Fareham Community Hospital, and Y Services For Young People. She will be supporting all these charities throughout the next twelve months until May 2026 and more information on their work is available online here.

Meanwhile Mr Jonathan Clubley will support his wife in this role of Mayor’s Consort, and is likely to take part alongside the Mayor in multiple events across this borough; including civic occasions, wreath bearings and church readings. The Deputy Mayor for this Municipal Year is named as Councillor Tina Ellis, and Mr Robert Ellis is Deputy Mayor’s Consort; whilst the Mayor’s Cadet for the annum has further been named as Corporal Oliver Reasons from 9 Platoon, Fareham.
