By Marie Arnott
HMS COLLINGWOOD have announced that discounted early bird tickets are available for their annual open day event that is taking place on June 28 (Saturday), which will see hundreds of visitors explore a range of activities at the Fareham-based training establishment.
The offer will be expiring on May 31 with prices being £14.00 per adult (sixteen plus) and £7.00 per child (aged 3-15); whilst a family of two adults and three children will cost £34.00 until this date. From June 1 these prices would be £17.00, £9.00 and £39.00 respectively with carers / personal assistants requiring a paid ticket for entry; although there is free onsite parking added.
Doors are open from 9.30am until 5pm and there will be plenty to enjoy for all ages; including interactive zones for hands-on activities and the opportunity to experience state-of-the-art warship simulators. Visitors will also be able to see parts of the establishment and see some of the Royal Navy’s training equipment / experience, as well as a change to meet and talk to personnel.
The highlight of the day will see teams from across the country / abroad contest in the annual Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) Field Gun Competition. This historic competition promises an exhilarating and thrilling spectacle; which will aim to test attributes such as strength, power and pace.
A free bus service will run throughout the day from Fareham and Gosport to the base, whilst all entertainment and attractions are free of charge (including the fairground rides) once the entrance fee has been paid. Only service dogs are allowed into the event however and people have been asked to be patient if they are queuing as some facilities / attractions may be busy.
