Council urge residents to complete Gosport survey
GOSPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL have invited its local residents to help shape the future of walking, cycling and wheeling across the town by completing a survey, which will allow them to enter a prize draw and potentially win a £30 voucher.
Feedback will inform new initiatives to help residents feel more comfortable using these methods to get around the borough via a short survey. Three events have further been organised during this timeframe to offer a chance for the community to meet the team behind the project, as well as the opportunity to ask queries and also complete the survey in paper form if they wish. The first such event is planned to take place next Wednesday (September 30) at YourSpace in the Town Centre from 1pm to 3pm (51-52 High St, PO12 1DF).
It will be followed by another event to be held between 4pm and 6pm on October 13 (Tuesday) at Gosport Leisure Centre (Forest Way, PO13 0ZX), with the final opportunity being held at the Lee Hub on October 28 (Wednesday) from 11am to 1pm (Independent Community Library, 14 High St, PO13 9BZ). All three locations are accessible by public transport nearby and car parking nearby.
After completing the anonymous survey, participants are invited to leave their contact details to be entered into a prize draw. A winner will be randomly selected after the closing date to win a £30 shopping voucher.
The survey is being run by the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans) on behalf of Hampshire County Council and Gosport Borough Council. The survey asks how residents currently travel around the borough and what barriers prevent them from walking, cycling or wheeling more often. “Wheeling” includes any wheeled mobility aid, or modes of transport like scooters and skateboards.
Councillor Zoe Huggins, Leader of Gosport Borough Council, said: ” Whether you regularly cycle, walk to the shops, use a mobility scooter, or mainly travel by car, we want to hear from you. Your feedback will help us understand what changes would make it easier and safer to get around Gosport, so I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their views.”
