Fareham call for early by-election voting

IN LIGHT of the planned strike action by Royal Mail workers on Thursday, October 13, and Thursday, October 20, Fareham Borough Council is urging anyone with a postal vote for the forthcoming Portchester East by-election to return their completed packs immediately upon receipt, to ensure they are in time to be counted.

If preferred, postal voters can hand deliver their completed packs to Fareham Borough Council’s Civic Offices up until 10pm on Thursday, October 20.

The Civic Offices are open Monday-Friday 8.45am-5.15pm if residents wish to hand in their postal vote to the main reception. There is also an external post box available outside of these times when the building is closed.

Alternatively, completed postal vote packs can be handed into any polling station in the Portchester East ward on Thursday, October 20, between the hours of 7am and 10pm.

Postal vote packs for people who have already registered, will be distributed this Thursday, October 6.  For those who have applied for a postal vote between Monday, September 26 and the deadline of Wednesday, October 5, postal vote packs will be posted around Thursday, October 13.

If residents would prefer to visit a polling station to vote in person, they will need to cancel their postal vote in order to do this. Alternatively, residents can also change their postal vote to a proxy vote, whereby a trusted representative can cast the vote on their behalf.  Please note, any changes to an existing postal vote must have been requested by 5pm today, Wednesday, October 5, at the latest.
