First Bus introduce new Fareham and Gosport service
By Connor Steel
FIRST BUS SOUTH have announced the introduction of their new public transport ‘link’ running between Fareham and Gosport Bus Stations in a major boost for passengers; the company further outlining a range of small changes for both the X4 / X5 services this week as they look to improve access across the area including Portsmouth and Southampton.
The number 5 route will stop at locations including Fareham College, Stokes Bay Sailing Club, Stubbington Village and the War Memorial Hospital amongst others; which will be followed in ‘both directions’ and take around 50 minutes. This follows the routes of the orginal X5 and is to run every 30 minutes (Monday to Saturday) or every hour during Sundays.
It represents a total of twenty-one routes daily through Mondays-Saturdays in both directions alongside 11 on Sundays; which are in addition to the X4 / X5 following similar routes. This will be particularly helpful with a series of big events in Gosport and Fareham over the next month; including D-Day 80 celebrations and the start of a busy ‘summer calendar’.
First Bus have further extended the X5 route to begin and end at the Hard Interchange alongside adding more evening services between Fareham and Portsmouth (Mondays-Saturdays) with new buses every hour. These changes will also help this route align with the X4, which will follow this same map and is due to have more buses running in the evening.
All information on the new 5 route and tweaks to X4 / X5 services can be explored on the First Bus website; which has provisions to download or print out timetables, plan their trips and purchase tickets as well as checking for any ‘update’.
