Historic Gosport fort to host free summer festival

By Connor Steel

FORT BROCKHURST will be opening their historic site for 4 days of family fun and cultural activities as the organisers announced details of its “2025 Festival at the Fort”; which is due to be held late this summer and is part of the Gosport Cultural Education Project as a great collaboration between Hampshire Music Education Hub and the Grange Festival.

Programming will start at 6pm on July 2 (Wednesday) with a session of “Rhythm & March” featuring the Royal Marines Band from HMS Collingwood (for it’s first time) and local secondary dance students. This will be followed by the ‘Youth Proms’ from 6pm on July 3 (Thursday) whilst two private shows are to be held within the Fort throughout Friday, July 4.

Residents are invited to attend the ‘Family Fun Day’ starting at midday on July 5 (Saturday) with activities ranging from circus skills to crafting alongside a performance from ‘Farmyard Circus’ that is scheduled to begin at 1pm. This day will further conclude with ‘Music at the Fort’ at 3pm and is set to showcase entertainment talent from across this local area.

Last year a total of over 1,250 young people participated in this event alongside more than 2,500 community members, with organisers are looking to beat these figures this time around. This 2025 event will follow previous editions in being free to attend across the four days although appropriate footwear is needed due to the ‘uneven’ ground around the site.
