Fareham cinema rolls out new weekly screenings

By Connor Steel

REEL CINEMA FAREHAM have announced they have rolled out two weekly events that will be aimed at ensuring their film screenings are more affordable, inclusive and welcoming for ‘movie-lovers’ across the local area; whether they are navigating their life with a newborn baby, enjoying their retirement or simply after midweek treats within this community.

Senior Screen provides an opportunity for people aged sixty or older to enjoy specially selected films in good company, thus offering a social setting to potentially connect with fellow cinema lovers on Tuesday mornings. This will cost £4.99 per person and includes a free hot drink / biscuit for everyone, whilst traditional snacks will all be available to purchase.

Parent & Baby screenings have also been introduced by this venue and were designed exclusively for adults who have babies under twelve months old. The screenings will have lower volumes, softer lighting and no older children / general public whilst baby changing / breast-feeding facilities may be used. This will cost £4.99 with free biscuit and beverages.

Mike Willis, General Manager at Reel Cinema Fareham, welcomed the new screenings as he said in a short statement: “These events are about removing barriers and making cinema work for everyone. We’re proud to have a space where our community can relax and reconnect through (enjoying) films – whether you’re a new parent or enjoying retirement.”

These events were launched early this month and seniors / parents can book their ticket on the Reel Cinema Fareham website; although it is important to stress these above screenings aren’t available during all school holidays. A detailed timetable of movies including Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning can also be seen on the link.
